Each of the jacks in the home has coaxial cable (for TV antenna, cable, or satellite TV) as well as category 5 cable (for internet/ethernet or phone connections). Some jacks have two coax and two category 5 cables going to them (like the one in the living room).
The structured wiring box has all the coax and category 5 cables running in the box, with a coax splitter already installed. An ethernet hub is an easy addition since there's also a 110 volt outlet already installed in the base of the box as well, but with today's wifi routers, you may find ethernet not necessary.For satellite, cable, and/or internet the new homeowner can choose Cox Communications, Centurylink, DirecTV, dishNetwork, and others.
