Ceiling Fans

The home at 24 W. Paseo Celestial was purchased new with a specific upgrade of having structural supports and wiring specifically for ceiling fans in the living room and all the bedrooms.  This means that all the junction boxes were specifically mounted to be able to handle the extra weight of a ceiling fan, and that two power sources were run to each of these junction boxes, each with their own switch, one to control the light on the fan, and a separate power source with a switch to control the fan itself.

There are ceiling fans installed in the living room, and every bedroom in the home.  In the bedrooms, you can control the lights separately from the fan using separate switches mounted at the entry to each bedroom.  This allows you to turn the light on in the bedroom without having to turn on the fan, or turn the fan on without having to turn on the light.

The ceiling fan in the living room (as pictured to the right), is slightly different, in that it doesn't take advantage of the dual power source already installed.  Instead that ceiling fan's light and fan are powered by the same light switch in the living room.  The reason for this, is that the living room ceiling fan is slightly fancier than the other ones in the house, and has it's own remote control that is mounted on the wall next to the light switches.  The remote control, lets you change the light setting and fan speed and turn either of these on or off from where you are in the room just by having the remote control next to you.  It's a nice additional convenience.

There's one more ceiling fan in the house that I haven't talked about yet, and that's the one mounted outside in the covered patio.  This is a special ceiling fan in that it's specifically designed for outdoor use.  The blades are made of a plastic suited for outdoor wet weather and there are rubber gaskets to keep out moisture throughout the rest of the components of the ceiling fan.  The ceiling fan itself is securely mounted to the ceiling using a ceiling fan brace between two studs in the ceiling of the patio area.  The fan is nice for getting a breeze when sitting under the shade of the covered patio for those warm days or nights in the Sahuarita area.
