Actual picture of home during construction |
While, I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the features, here's a list of the energy saving features that I do remember:
(Click the "Read More" below to finish reading the entire article)
- At the time the home was built, the entire exterior of the home was wrapped in Tyvek
- The entire exterior also had a layer of foam board insulation placed on top of the Tyvek wrap and before the stucco layer.
- The attic area of the home is filled with fiberglass insulation
- All the windows in the home and the sliding glass door have dual pane windows for higher energy efficiency
- The garage is drywall finished and insulated
- The front door and door to the garage are solid core doors
- The A/C unit is highly energy efficient and one of the highest SEER efficiency A/C units available at the time of installation in 2009
The pictures I've added to this blog post were taken in February 2009 of this actual home as it was being built, so you can see some of these energy saving features on the home.
In the first picture you can see the foam board insulation around the exterior of the home. In the other two pictures you can see fiberglass insulation on all the exterior walls of the home and one of the dual pane windows during installation.
